Being one of those people that mainly uses my cellphone for phoning (obviously), taking pictures (occasionally when I left the digi camera at home) and the odd Internet access to update my Facebook status (yes, we are all shamelessly addicted to that), I can’t always see the excitement of waiting in a queue – sometimes sleeping over from the previous day – to get the latest, long awaited release of an iPhone.
But yes. In reality it does happen. With recent headlines on News24 being:
- “Apple to unveil new iPod”
- “iPhone 3G S fastest yet”
- and the most recent one “New iPhone 3G S ‘in SA soon”
In the latest article Vodacom mentioned that the iPhone 3G S is the fastest and most powerful phone ever. Although they do not commit to an exact date, they anticipate having it available in SA in July ‘09. According to media reports the iPhone 3G S will be available in the US on June 19 and in the rest of the world on July 7.
The new 3G S model of the iPhone, looks the same as the 3G iPhone which came out last year, but has a faster processor, longer battery life, an internal compass, a video camera and a photo camera with better resolution and auto-focus.
I suppose it is a case of “what you don’t know, you don’t miss”. If someone never had e-mail, obviously they will not feel (like most of us), cut off from the rest off the world, unable to be productive at all at work and frustrated for the rest of the day, when the line is down for half an hour.
Thus, while you can read more about the exciting iPone 3G S [More info], I’ll go explore what I’ve been missing out off all these years…
