Sabinet has launched a new version of the South African Union Catalogue (SACat) database on the WorldCat.org interface. This exciting development allows users to search for items held within South African libraries, making use of the advanced features and options (such as Web 2.0 technologies) available on the WorldCat.org platform.
The WorldCat.org platform includes faceted browsing, FRBRisation, user initiated tagging and reviewing, linking to WorldCat Identities and more. Via deep-linking users can find titles on SACat and be redirected to your local catalogue. Continual developments are planned to ensure that the WorldCat.org platform addresses the information searching requirements of users.
Please visit http://sabinet.worldcat.org to access SACat on the WorldCat.org platform.
Libraries can download the search box http://sabinet.worldcat.org/tools/searchboxHTML and incorporate it into their own website, OPAC or the institutional e-learning platform for easy access.
We would welcome your feedback or questions. Please contact Client Services at info@sabinet.co.za or 012 643 9500.
